Why You Should Buy Plumbing Fixtures From American Manufacturers

,

A common issue that we run across at our front counter is a great lack of American made products. Many people, whether it be restaurant owners or house owners, tend to want the cheapest thing that will work for their particular plumbing situation. I'm all for saving a dollar, but there comes a point where you have to decide on either American made vs imported plumbing fixtures. There are pros and cons to each, so let's get right to it.

Quality vs Quantity

The quality vs quantity argument is an age old debate that really has no definite answer to it. Most of the time, quality is better, but there are some situations you may find yourself in where you need a cheaper product that will just get the job done. The problem in the plumbing industry is that imported plumbing fixtures last no where nearly as long as American made fixtures do. When you are choosing between American made and imported fixtures, one of the biggest factors you have to consider is the life span of the fixture in relation to the cost. Often times, imported fixtures aren't cheap enough to justify buying foreign manufactured fixtures over American made fixtures.

What's a Repair Part?

So let's say you decided to buy an imported plumbing fixture. You got a great deal, and you hope it lasts a long time. Some day down the road, when a single part of your fixture needs to be replaced, you will go hunting for some kind of repair part that can patch your fixture up like new. The problem is, that when you buy a foreign manufactured plumbing fixture, your odds of getting any kind of repair part you need are next to none. We have people come into our front counter all the time who bought an import fixture at one point and cannot get the specific replacement part that they need. At that point, you are stuck buying a whole new fixture, completely negating your original efforts to save money. When you buy from American manufacturers, repair parts are the least of your problem. Between a high quality original build and an abundance of repair parts, there is no reason to not choose American manufacturers when shopping for various plumbing fixtures.
